Visitors to the Eden Project will have a chance to try out some modern bike technology, as it gears up to host an electric bike show.

The show, from Saturday, April 20 until Wednesday, April 24, will showcase some of the best new bikes designed to give cyclists an extra boost when pedaling, perfect for tackling the hill of Cornwall.

Twelve companies will be showing off their electric assisted bike ranges, including local firm Ocean Cycle from Torpoint and Falmouth-based ICE trikes, whose recumbent bikes allow the rider to cycle in a reclined, comfortable position.

People will have the opportunity to test ride the bikes from 10am until 4.30pm each day during the five-day show. Novices will be able practice their pedaling in the arena at the heart of Eden’s clay pit, while seasoned cyclists can take to one of Eden’s paths.

There will also be a guided tour on Saturday, April 20, at 11am and 2:30pm following the trail to Wheal Martyn and back again.

Cycle helmets will be provided for all test rides, which are available to visitors aged 14 and over. For more information on the bike show and other events at Eden, go to: www.edenproject.com
